I’m going to use a few different songs here to illustrate my point first of is gonna be brother lynch a lets say extreme example of one of raps gg allen type artist i’ll be honest to its a great the world is just pissing me off tunes, but thats my opinion i don’t actually endorse cannibalism!
Now this video is shocking as shit no way around it. I really can’t defend it on any level other then freedom of expression and venting. now this would be the extreme end and as a discussion went last night gg allen’s antic differ little other then musical genre.
now i know this doesn’t technically qualify as rap music cause well it’s Ice t’s metal/punk band, now i remember when this song came out the backlash was huge and somewhat successful. In reality the song was created to express the dissatisfaction with behaviours of the police. the controversy even was responsible for one of my favourite episodes of WKRP in Cincinnati in which the one DJ got in trouble for violating the ban on the song by playing it live on air after telling his boss he was gonna do it anyway because this is america god damn it or something like that i was still young but allready had hip hop figured out!
now onto the next round of tunes we will head on over to a more pleasant side of things away from tales of pimps and hoes!
This is Mac Leathal’s jake+olive it don’t get much sweeter then this for love stories thats all i really gotta say but hopefully people are starting to get what i mean when i say their is stuff everyone likes i find this true in all genres of music.
and just for paying attention here is one more bonus tune just to drive the point home that there are many many different flavours in rap music which honestly i dont really see a difference between hip hop music vs rap thats a really dumb debate its the same fucking thing and this emo kid need to have a little sub genre that says hey i don’t listen to rap or really understand wtf a hip hop culture is but i know i don’t want to be labled a douche bag is so annoying!
this one is from aceyalone way back in the day i still listen to this album quite a bit as well i like great lyrics.
i strongly would say go buy all these guys music but really i’m just trying to promote a more open mind between musical genres
